How long will my registration last?
Once you have registered with us via the website and your registration fee is paid and cleared, your details will remain on our website for 3 years from date of initial registration.
What happens when I register?
Once registered and fees all paid, your CV will be actively marketed to 1000’s of accountancy practices via the website. These firms may consider you for an internship even if you have no experience whatsoever.
Why do I only need to register a summary CV?
The initial search by the practices is to ascertain potential candidates. A summary CV on our website does this and saves you having to send in a detailed CV which makes comparison between potential students more difficult for the practices. Once you have been selected as a potential candidate the practice is likely to ask you for a detailed CV that can be sent directly to the firm.
Can I update my registered CV on the website?
Yes you will have full access to your CV to be updated e.g. change of address.
How long will I have to wait until I am placed?
Unfortunately we are unable to give you a time frame as the practices that search our site for suitable interns will be recruiting at different times of the year.
Can you guarantee I will get placed?
No, unfortunately not. We will do everything we can to find you a placement and actively market your CV to practices via the website, however we cannot guarantee that you will be placed if the firms consider that you are not suitable for whatever reason.
Is the registration fee a one off?
Yes. The registration fee is a one off amount of €140 and lasts for 3 years from date of initial registration. You can pay via the website with paypal security using debit/credit cards or pay cash, cheque or postal order to our regional office administrator. Please telephone 0044 1277 840762 for regional office details.
What happens if I am not placed - does my CV get removed?
No, not until 3 years have lapsed. We monitor students who have not been placed and try to find out why and help you where we can to improve your chances of selection.
What happens if I am not placed - does my fee get refunded?
No, unfortunately we cannot refund any fees as we obviously incur costs marketing your CV to practices.
What happens if I am not happy with my placement?
If during your placement you feel that the firm is not providing you with the experience that they agreed to do and/or if the firm appears to be treating you unfairly, discuss the issues with your appointed mentor at the firm. If you decide to leave the placement, you will be allowed to re-register with the PiP programme free of charge and we will investigate the claim.
Does my experience gained as an intern count towards membership?
The PiP programme enables students to gain practical work experience towards professional body membership by only placing students with practices who are members of a Recognised Supervisory Body (RSB) i.e. ACCA, Chartered or CPA firms and the work experience gained meets the relevant work experience requirements of your own professional body.
Do I need to keep a record of my training?
Yes. You should keep a record of all your daily practical training gained in a diary and transfer the details in to your official student training record.
Who can sign off my student training record?
A qualified member of a professional body who is a member of a RSB who is directly or indirectly responsible for your practical training at the placement practice, ideally your placement mentor.
If I am an ACCA student and I get placed in a Chartered or CPA firm, will my expeience still count towards ACCA membership?
Yes, provided that the experience is relevant and supervised in accordance with the ACCA practical training requirements.
As an accountancy degree student can I join the PIP scheme?
Yes, however as you are not yet registered with a professional body, we cannot guarantee the experience you gain now will count towards future membership of your chosen professional body. Any experience you gain will however be beneficial to your personal skills base.
My placement firm is not an 'approved employer' with my professional body, will my experience be recognised?
Yes, as long as the placement firm is a RSB i.e. ACCA, Chartered or CPA and the experience you have gained is relevant work experience in accordance with your RSB practical experience requirements.
